Festival of Faiths Exhibition - Slough Central Library

Partner organisations: Various local faith groups

Geographical area covered: Slough and surrounding area

Artforms involved: Pictures, text, photographs,artefacts and literature depicting the following religions: Christianity, Rastafarian, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Sikhism and Baha'i. Materials for the display have been supplied by local religious groups.

Types of libraries involved: Public Library

Target audiences: General public and school children undertaking projects / homework.

Timescale: 10th December 2002 until 24th January 2003

Budget: From internal marketing and promotions budget. Books purchased from existing stock fund.

Outputs: To facilitate an exhibition which celebrates the diversity of the community of Slough. To use the colourful and impactful display as a resource for information about the various faith groups. Opportunity for customers to feed back on the display and provide ideas / comments for future displays.

Outcomes: Promotion of library book and a/v stock. Outreach work with local faith groups to involve them in the production of the display. Community involvement in a library event. Using the links made for this event to consult with community groups about library services as a whole.
